Please read the following carefully:
Asana (yoga posture) means posture easily held. If at any time during the class, I feel discomfort or strain, I will gently come out of the posture. I may rest at any time during the class.
It is important in yoga that I listen to my body, breath and intuition, and respect those limits on any given day.
I understand that Yoga is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. I should consult a physician prior to beginning any activity program, including yoga.
I recognize that it is my responsibility to notify my teacher of any serious illness or injury before every yoga class. I will not perform any postures to the extent of strain or pain.
In keeping with the Indian tradition of stability in practice, I agree further to the following:
If I am a student visiting from out of town, I remain responsible for my own practice, and will not expect to be helped in poses if the teacher is not familiar with me.
If I am a student switching from another school, I will provide a letter of recommendation from my teacher or send a letter expressing why I wish to change teachers and attend Ashtanga Yoga New York.
In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Yoga class, I agree to assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries or damages, known or unknown, which I might incur as a result of this practice. In further consideration of being permitted to participate in this class, I knowingly, voluntarily and expressly waive any claim I may have against Ashtanga Yoga New York and the Brooklyn Ganesha Temple, its teachers and staff, for injury or damages that I may sustain as a result of participating in the program. I, my heirs or legal representatives, forever release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue for any injury or death caused by their negligence or other acts.
